Penny Pollock McFarland traveled to Sudan, Africa with her missionary
parents ( Ted and Dolly Pollock) when she was 3 years old. She lived
in the Sudan and Egypt until she graduated from Schutz School in 1960
(This was a Mission School in Assiut and Alexandria, Egypt). Penny
earned a BA from Westminster College and a M ED from Temple University.
She taught elementary school in PA and VA.
Penny married John
McFarland and they have 4 children and 8 grand children. Penny has a
love of gardening, travel, cooking, playing with her grandkids, and
volunteering. Penny and John are members of the Westminster Presbyterian
Church in Wilmington, DE. She serves on the Mission Committee. While
her family was growing up she led a number of groups to work on Habitat
for Humanity in Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and Charleston, SC. She has
also worked on 11 international projects in Egypt, Peru, Brazil, Sudan,
Zambia, and Mozambique. These volunteer builds included a library
reading room, a clinic, recording and translation facility, a pastor's
home, and 6 churches. Serving with the other volunteers and the
wonderful people in each village has been a blessing. God has led many
people to work together and enriched all of their lives.
